Our Story

First Step Solutions began operating in 2020, initially with Financial Literacy.  Financial Literary was developed to provide NDIS participants with the skills and knowledge to work towards their financial independence goals.  Incidentally, through discussion around social spending and online scams, it quickly became prevalent that there was a lack of knowledge around staying safe online, consent & healthy relationships.

Recognising this gap, we assembled a team of counsellors, psychologists and sexologists to develop an educational program specifically tailored to the needs of individuals with disability, ensuring their right to safe and healthy relationships.

The Date-Ability Program addressed the educational gap, however once education has been provided, participants wanted to put theory into practice, we became aware of another hurdle.

Social anxiety was always a barrier for participants due to negative experiences, this anxiety had been escalated by Covid lockdowns.  Partnered was a lack of opportunity where participants felt supported and safe; there was little opportunity to practice their new skills.

Since 2021, we have been providing opportunities for social connections – Mates Before Dates (face to face event); and The Cliq Connection (online app released in 2023).

The First Step Solutions team are big believers in everyone having the right to experience love & relationships in a way of their choosing and are incredibly proud to be able to provide education and events that support this.
